so this is the new model. from now on, indesign will always be a monthly subscription, along with incopy, indesign and so on. you can pay your monthly license (or more, if you want to) once per month, and upgrade then, or just renew annually as before. the switch to subscription is relatively simple. all your perpetual licenses get converted to annual subscriptions, and then you can pay your monthly fee or renew. the major benefit is that youll never have to worry about timing, as you can renew at any time, or just pay monthly in perpetuity. the monthly fee is the same whether you renew annually or monthly, so its no more complicated than paying once a year for an older perpetual license. indesign cs4 was the last perpetual version, but cs6 will be the first perpetual version under the new model. prior to indesign cs6, youll still have the option to pay a one-off fee for perpetual licenses.
what else is new in the new indesign? well, incopy has a whole bunch of improvements, as well as a new look and feel for the interface. the new interface for incopy is designed to give you more space to do your work, and to support all the new features in indesign cs6. the new features include more robust pdf creation, better import and export from indesign, improved web layout and much more. you can also now easily edit links and urls in indesign cs6, and share your work using this link. this is a big step for indesign, because it lets you easily share content in a format thats better for the web, and lets you generate a url from within indesign that you can then put on your website.
