the first thing you will want to do is resize your arrow to your liking. i typically resize my arrows between 100 and 120 pixels, depending on what i feel like. once you resize the arrow, you can just click the green bar to apply the changes. if you want to remove the arrow completely, click the remove arrow button. the location where your shortcut will be created can be altered by clicking the browse button and finding the folder you wish to use. you can put the shortcut on the desktop or anywhere else on your computer. sometimes i will put shortcuts on my my documents folder just because i enjoy seeing a shortcut on my desktop.
one of the best things about this program is that it comes with some cool extra icons. it contains the arrow, check mark, badge, and home symbol. there are two types of buttons available: the small multi colored line buttons, which are used for creating new shortcuts, and the huge buttons, which are used for removing the arrow completely. i tend to use the large button for those times when i wish to remove the icon, and the small button for creating shortcuts. the second item to take note of is the browse button. this allows you to add extra icons (such as pictures, pdf files, and so on), and even choose a custom folder that you wish to place the shortcut on. i think the best and most useful function of the application is its ability to create custom icons and the folder you wish to place them on. the program lets you choose from a number of custom icons, and then you can change the location where the shortcuts are created. since this is a small shortcut editor i have only included a handful of custom icons. however, since this is software download free digital download manager for windows 10 a program that i have used before, i chose to include a few of my favorite icons.
with vista or windows 7, when you create a shortcut of a file, folder or program, you will see a tiny arrow overlay on the icon. it looks less than attractive, and makes the desktop look cluttered. even when you click the options to remove the arrow on that shortcut, it doesnt work. instead, you have to change the properties of the file or folder shortcut to do that. but with the windows shortcut arrow editor you can simply select the arrow overlay and click the remove arrow button to remove it. click read more for more details.
now, you might have noticed that the arrow on the desktop shortcut icon is hardly visible. if you dont want to remove it altogether, you can just hide the arrow and make the shortcut icon look more similar to the original icon. for this, just select the arrow option and click the hide this icon button. now, the desktop shortcut will look exactly the same as the original icon. you can also select the custom icon for that shortcut by clicking the custom icon button and then clicking the browse.. button to select a different image. click read more for more details.
in windows 7, you can remove the desktop shortcuts created with the arrow overlays. this feature is not available in windows vista. to remove this, click the remove the arrow button and the arrow will be removed from the desktop shortcut.
arrow overlay remover 2.0 is a free utility that lets you remove arrows on desktop shortcuts. it removes the arrow on the desktop shortcuts that was added by the vista and windows 7. overall, this is an useful tool for those who want to customize their desktop shortcuts.
